Savage Smyth featured as a Crain’s Best New Event Space

Crain’s Chicago Business published their third annual Best New 2017 Event Venues. The list highlights 12 Chicago-area venues that were opened or renovated in the past 15 months.

Crain’s reporter Molly Each wrote about Savage Smyth.

With a combined 45 years of marketing and event production under their belts, Fergus Rooney and Gabrielle Martinez, the duo behind agencyEA, know what makes a stand-out event. So it makes sense that they would open Savage Smyth, a two-story event spaces atop their River North marketing agency.

Since it opened in June, they’ve hosted everything from art installations and chef demos to pop-up markets, product launched and speaker panels – even serving as a site for Daybreaker the early-morning yoga session and dance party. The raw, malleable fourth-floor space (exposed brick, skylights, concrete floors and lots of light – the usual, in other words) offers a blank canvas to create your own event, and members of the agencyEA team are on hand to provide as much or as little assistance as needed. Preferred vendors helped to design the space and include Sound Investment for audio/visual, Flower Firm for floral, and Entertaining Company Company + Real Kitchen for catering.

On the fifth floor, a 8,000-square-foot-rooftop deck provides sweeping views of the skyline, and the Brown Line el rolling by offers a distinctly Chicago soundtrack. Another city touch? Guests can enter through the alley, which features a mural by artist Chris Silva, setting a creative tone from the start.
